St. Patty's Day 5K

Well I ran/walked my first 5K on St. Patrick's Day. My friend Amy convinced me to do it and I was a little nervous. I have not been running or doing anything to prepare for it. I was going to start running the weeks leading up to it but I had a severe allergic reaction on my hip to a medicine from the doctor (story for another post). So I wasn't able to run or workout. We decided to push the boys. I was happy because if I was walking I didn't look like such a wimp. I really hadn't planned on running very much because I am soooo out of shape.

Since it was St. Patricks day we had to run in something green and the boys needed something too. We found these bright green workout shirts and the boys these little St. Patty's day shirts at Old Navy. They were perfect!

Yes Amy and I were wearing the same Lulu Lemon jacket....and no we didn't plan it!
Well the morning came and it was freezing and really windy! We bundled up and we were ready to go. Luckily Cooper had green rain boots and a green jacket to wear. It said it was supposed to be rainy all morning so I was quite nervous. But it didn't rain at all. Luckily!

Brad and my dad came to support. It was really sweet of them! They drove to the middle of the route so they could cheer us on. It was hilarious. They would get out and take pictures like it was this serious race. Super embarrassing but it is nice having the pictures and knowing they cared enough about me to make fools of themselves :)

Between the wind, having to stop to adjust the boys hats and gloves, give them snacks, Amy's hurt foot (her doctor had told her not to run for 2 weeks but we still did), and the heavy jogging strollers our time wasn't great by any means. But it was quicker then I had thought we would do. My official time was 39:16:9 and I took 14th place in my age group and 160th overall. Definitely not amazing but I wanted to document it!

It is nice saying I have completed a 5k. I am wanting to completely run one in April. Then we are going to do the Race for the Cure in May. Brad said he would do this one with me so we will probably walk it.

Here we are about to cross the finish line.....watch Cooper as we pass!

Walk to the Park

A couple of days ago my friend Amy and I took the babies on a walk to the park. There are a ton of parks all over in the neighborhoods where I live. It will be a lot of fun when Cooper gets a little older and can actually play on the parks. Cooper loves when we go on walks out with our jog stroller. This particular day Cooper hadn't napped really well so I was sure he would fall asleep on our walk. I was wrong. He is very much like his daddy in the fact that if something is going on he wants to stay awake to take it all in. This makes it hard because it is impossible to get him to sleep in public. He will only fall asleep in his crib or in his car seat. This means that we have to lug around the car seat whenever he is going to be needing a nap (ex. at church). When we got to the park and he was still awake I thought we would swing and go down the slide. Cooper was taking it all in. When he gets really tired, like he was this day, he gets very mellow and quite. He loved swinging. He totally relaxed and just laid on me and looked at everything going on around us. I will have to take him again when he is a little more awake and can get excited about it.

A Typical Day at the Harline House

A typical day at the Harline house.....My day consists of getting up at 7:00 am with Cooper just as Brad is leaving for work. We hang out for about an hour until he lays down for his first nap of the day. I sometimes try to lay back down and nap, but I swear Cooper knows because every time my head hits the pillow for a nap he decides it's time for him to wake up. Once he wakes up and eats again we go walking with my neighbor Codie and her little boy Jack. Lately I have even been taking Indiana. I just hook his leash to the stroller and he loves it. I've been surprised at how good he is on our walks. After our walk we get ready for the day. We pretty much just hang out all day and continue our 3 hour schedule until Brad gets home from work at 4:30 ish. Once he gets home he likes to fit in a workout. Once he finishes about 6:00 we eat dinner and then settle in for nightly tv shows. Cooper is awesome at going to bed for the night which usually happens between 10-10:30. With most of his naps he fusses a little when going down. But when it is time for bed , he usually lays down, doesn't make a peep, and is out! It's nice because by that point I am so ready for bed!

I've decided that I need something other than tv to do during the day. When Cooper is napping that is my alone time. Yes I do laundry, clean, and do all the household chores....but I needed something for just me. So I decided that I am going to start reading more. I haven't been a big reader probably ever. I have always been in school so I was always reading textbooks and if I wasn't reading for school there is no way I wanted to spend more time reading. But now that I have graduated I actually enjoy reading. So if anyone has any good book recommendations I would love to hear them!

Some of Brad's family is coming to town this week to see Cooper and for his baby blessing. One of Brad's sisters and his mom still haven't seen Cooper. So I am very excited for them to get to meet him. They aren't going to want to leave :)

Cooper is so happy in the mornings

Cooper absolutely LOVES our daily walks

This is how Cooper usually ends up on our walks

Just a funny picture of Coop that I couldn't resist taking

So exciting news....Chase has moved back from Arizona. We are so happy that he is back. I hated the idea of Cooper not growing up with his Uncle Chase around.

His first day back and he got to spend some time with Cooper. They were both exhausted apparently!
