This year for Cooper's 2nd birthday party I decided to do a Mickey Mouse theme. I racked my brain trying to figure out a theme. There were a million cute ones out there but none that screamed Cooper like Mickey Mouse did. He was and still is obsessed with Mickey. It all started with him watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I don't get it! I was never a fan of Mickey and Minnie. I'm still not a fan and didn't want some cheesy Mickey party. So I tried to find ideas that weren't too cheesy but still portrayed Mickey. I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I had planned to have his party at the church pavilion like we did with his 1st birthday. It's the middle of July and should be sunny and warm, right??? Wrong! I got home from Girls Camp the day before his party and I came home to dark storm clouds and crazy winds! Just my luck! So of course I start panicking not knowing what to do. I had planned to have a water party and had put together a ton of different water games, bubbles, and outside activities. I frantically tried to get a hold of the correct person in our stake to see if the ward building was available just incase the weather decided not to cooperate. Good thing I did because it ended up being so incredibly windy. I started to set everything up outside because the sun had actually decided to peak out and the rain had let up. But the wind was so strong it was blowing the table cloths and all the decorations that I had worked so hard on all over the place. So with about 45 minutes until his party started I decided to take everything down and move it inside. It was a little hectic to say the least. I had made sure everything was finished and ready ahead of time and had given myself two hours to set everything up to avoid the rush that I experienced at his party last year. But because of the weather I was in the same situation despite my hardest efforts. Things got lost during the transition and it was a little crazy. We got most of the stuff set up, people started showing up, and I just decided to enjoy the party. Although we couldn't do most of the games I had planned the kids still enjoyed themselves. The food was delicious and we had great company. I guess those are the important things.
