Super Bowl

As we do every year we had a Super Bowl party at our house. We cooked all day and then vegged and watched the game. Our friends the Haslams, Newbolds, and the Foutz came over. I made homemade meat and veggie empanadas from scratch.....I was proud of myself! I also made some buffalo chicken potato skins which also were fantastic. Brad worked on making some more sushi (we had lots of left over meat and veggies so we wanted to use it up) and then later he made tiger ears (fry bread).

My dad also came over to watch the game. Well really to play with Cooper. They played together all night. The patriots (his team) weren't doing well so he left before it ended because he didn't want to have it rubbed in by Brad when they lost. My dad and Brad have this ongoing battle about whether the Colts or Patriots are better. I think because Peyton Manning (Brad's favorite player) and Tom Brady (the Patriots quarter back) are always being compared it just fuels the fire. Cooper had a blast playing with Papa though!

Cooper being silly with Papa

My dad is not a little kid person. He always jokes he doesn't like any kids other than his own and now his grand kids. But I think secretly he does! Our friends little girls joined Cooper and were playing with Papa. It was so cute...our friends the Foutz little girl Elizabeth who is about a year old than Cooper went and sat down by my dad and said "Will you build blocks with me Papa". She calls her grandpas papa just like Cooper. It was the sweetest thing and melted my dad! Then they all ganged up and attacked!!!

Since Peyton Mannings brother Eli plays for the NY Giants and Brad HATES the Patriots we were routing for the Giants. So of course Brad made he and Cooper put on their Colts gear to support. He was disappointed in me that I didn't go change into my Colts gear as well.

The Giants won so it was a great day!!! It is weird that the football season is over. It went really fast this year. I think it was because Peyton Manning didn't play so they lost all but 2 games so Brad didn't like watching the Colts games. Looking forward to next year!!!

High School Football Games

We have gone to a couple of high school football games the past couple of weeks. Brad and our neighbor Tim decided it would be a fun idea to go to a football game at each of our high schools. Taylorsville for me, Olympus for Nikki, Highland for Tim, and Copper Hills for Brad. Since Brad didn't go to high school here we decided we would go to the high school that all of the kids in our ward go to. Last week we went to the Copper Hills game because it was their homecoming game. Then last night we went to the Highland game. Both games were a lot of fun. It brought back a ton of memories of being in high school. But also how annoying high school kids can be :) Cooper really enjoyed being in that atmosphere with the music and all of the people. It would have been a nightmare however if Cooper wasn't walking. He was all over the place and would have been so dirty had he been crawling.

Before each game we had to go to the place where all the high school kids ate before the games when we were in high school. So for the Copper Hills game we started at Five Guys. Since none of us went to Copper Hills we just picked somewhere random :)

Then we were off to the Copper Hills game. Since it was homecoming and a rivalry game it was packed. I think this made it more exciting and fun. It was cool because we saw a lot of the youth in our ward. Nikki and I are both in Young Womens so it was nice because we know all of the youth in our ward.

Cooper did really well for the first little bit but then he got restless and wanted to explore. We took him and let him wander around. It was freezing but he didn't mind one bit. It was a blow out so we left during the 3rd quarter which was good because Cooper was so tired. It was way past his bedtime.

For the Highland game we started off with eating at the The Training Table. Cooper had not really had a good nap that day so he was really tired. He did not want Brad as you can see. He just wanted mom to hold him. I didn't mind one bit! Brad and Cooper both ended up in jeans and navy polos. It was totally unplanned but funny. This happens all of the time though!

Once we got to the game Cooper was fine. He was now so tired that he had become delirious so everything was hilarious and so fun to him. They were supporting breast cancer awareness. The cheerleaders were decked out in pink and their cheers were even centered around it. One of their cheers was "Mammograms, breast exams, I am the cure". They were cute! They handed out stickers so of course we had to put it on Coop's head. He didn't even notice and left it on the entire time. This game wasn't as packed so we had a lot of room on the bleachers for Cooper to walk around and play on. He had a blast!

We left this game in the 3rd quarter as well. Cooper was getting really tired and ready for bed. Cooper normally goes to bed at 8:00 pm so staying out past then sometimes is a struggle. The second we got in the car Cooper was out! No fussing or anything. It was a relief and made the drive home pleasant.

Going to the games has been a fun Friday night family activity that we can all enjoy. I LOVE football and going to games so it is right up my ally. Good idea Brad!!!

Utah Blaze Game

A few weekends ago we went to a Blaze game with Brad's Cousin and his wife. My cousin is a dancer for the Blaze so my 2 aunts, cousins fiance, grandma and grandpa were also at the game. We were able to sit next to my family because there were a lot of empty seats. Cooper was a trooper! The game went until 10:30 and he is usually in bed by 8. He got a little restless towards the end because he wanted to crawl around. The Blaze lost but it was still intense and really fun. The second he hit the car seat he was out! I love being able to experience fun family activities like this. It is even more fun now that we have a baby. I kind of make a point of doing fun things where he can go with us. Yes that means not as many movies as we used to. Brad doesn't like this. Going to movies is probably one of his favorite things to do. I think he will like when Cooper gets a little older and we can go to the kid movies and take him.

The noise didn't even seem to bother him. I got ear plugs incase it was too loud for him. But he would not keep them in. He was happier without them.

He refuses to keep shoes or socks on his feet so he always looks like an orphan baby.
